The library team aims to have the most relevant research guide (subject or course research guide) pulled into every course in Blackboard.

If you are not seeing the most relevant research guide in your course, it could be because you as the faculty member have renamed your course in Blackboard. We rely on the specific course naming convention in Blackboard to match guides to courses. If you have changed that naming convention, our system won't be able to find the most relevant guide and instead, you will see a generic guide.

If you have changed your course name in Blackboard, please contact Anne Briggs (anne.briggs@montgomerycollege.edu) and we can make adjustments on our end to correct the issue for your current courses.

In the future, if you would like to continue to be able to rename your Blackboard courses AND would like the most relevant guide linked in your courses, we would suggest two options:

  1. When renaming your courses, simply add any new information to the end of the existing course title (anywhere after the CRN). This will allow the system to still match to the most relevant guide. Example:
    1. Standard course name: 202020 – ENGL-102-12345
    2. Your new course name: 202020 – ENGL-102-12345 [Your Custom Name Goes Here]
  2. Rename your course however you’d like and then inform Anne Briggs of the new course name. She will create custom metadata for the most relevant guide for your course to ensure it is pulled in.
