The library does not have individual pieces of music on one or two sheets of paper (sheet music); however, the library does have many songs and instrumental music pieces (music scores) published in books and available through our databases.

Please note: the library's print music scores, which are typically located at the Rockville Campus library, are currently unavailable due to library renovations. Follow the directions below to locate our online music scores.

Online Music Scores

  • To find music scores, search RaptorSearch by:
    • the composer
    • title of the piece or instrument type
    • use the filters on the left side of the results screen.  Under "Source Type" select "Show More" and then select "Scores"
    • you can also add the filter "Available Online."

Find Piano Duets

  • The library has music for piano duets (also called "music for 4 hands") by Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Satie, Schumann, and others.
  • Search in RaptorSearch for the composer, title of the piece, instrument, etc. (Example search terms: piano duet; “music for 4 hands”)
  • Then, use the filters on the left side of the results screen. Under "Source Type" select "Show More" and then "Select Scores".
  • You can also choose to add the filters "Available Online."

The Music & Performing Arts database also contains a collection of music scores. Under the "Collections" heading, select “Music Online: Classical Scores Library” on the right side of the screen.

If you have any other questions about music, access the Music Subject Research Guide.
