Where to Start

  • Two library pro/con databases to begin your search are: (1) Opposing Viewpoints and (2) SIRS Issues Researcher.
    • Opposing Viewpoints is a complete one-stop source for information on social issues. Access viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to websites, and full-text magazine and newspaper articles.
    • SIRS Issues Researcher is a general reference database containing thousands of full-text articles exploring social, scientific, health, historic, business, economic, political and global issues.
  • Both databases include topic links to articles that are both pro/con and allow you to also search using keywords.

If you are searching the databases from off-campus, you will be asked to log-in using your M number. For additional sources and topic ideas, access the library's Current Issues Research Subject Guide. For additional assistance with searching, connect with a librarian by text, 24/7 chat, appointment, phone, or in person.
